João Teixeira de Faria is an internationally renowned healer known as "John of God" to Americans. He was born in Goáis, Brazil on June 24, 1942. His father was a tailor. His family was very poor - they rarely had enough to eat.

When he was sixteen, João went to a river to bathe, when he saw the spirit of St. Rita of Cassia. She told João to go to a nearby spiritual center, where people were waiting for him.

João followed her instructions, found the center, walked up the stairs, and knocked on the door. He walked inside the center.

That’s the last thing he remembers, to this day. João awoke three hours later, to find a circle of people standing over him.

João immediately apologized. He tried to reassure them that he had probably fainted from hunger. He would be okay. But they told him,

"No, you don't understand. You have been healing people for the last three hours."

João remembered nothing.

Since that day more than fifty years ago, João de Deus (John of God) has healed millions of people from a wide range of conditions including cancer, HIV/AIDS, paralysis, emotional problems and more.

It’s my view that no one completely understands the science of how John of God heals people. This is a different culture, with a different understanding of life.
